Description

Picked up a pair of Spendor D7s to swap back and forth with Magicos.

9/10/2021 - Sold the Spendors.  They are fantastic speakers, but not quite at the level of the Magicos. The A1s are better suited for my room.

New additions:  Accuphase C-37 Phono preamp, Gold Note DS-10 (Roon endpoint), Leak Transport, and iFi Power station.

**Oh - I also switched to a different component stand (in first two pictures).  I loved the look on the black one, but sometimes I'm in the mood for the wood finish.

Thank you all once again for the kind words!  I've recently made some additions/updates to the system (in description).

Huge improvement with the analog front end using the C37 (Previously using the AD-50 phono module in the E-470, which by all means is a killer addition for the money).  The C37 does all the things the AD-50 did well, just better.  The absolute best SS Phono preamp I've used. **Wish I could afford the C47 (new reference from Accuphase)

Digital has been upgraded to a Gold Note DS-10.  Using that as a Roon Endpoint and DAC (previously was using a Bluesound into my Accuphase CD player's digitial inputs).  I've replaced the Accuphase CD Player with a Leak transport (it fit in the cubby perfectly, ha) running coax into the DS-10.

Only have a week with the new gear but the improvements were noticeable immediately.

Happy listening!

@bajaed  Very nice!  Bet it sounds fantastic.

@lalitk Using a Jelco TK-950S w/ VTA on the fly.

@bajaed What table & tonearm are you getting?

My Volare is on a cutting board (a friend made this in his wood shop) with some Isoacoustic Orea feet. Works well for isolation + I like the way it looks!!

@thosb

Haha!  I was listening to Galaxie 500 when I was posting the system.  It's from one of their songs - "Tugboat".

I've tried subs in my room with moderate success (SVS, and REL).  I can only get them to blend well when they're in inconvenient places.  The Magico's low end is pretty good/deep for their size.  I can live with it.

Thank you all for the kind words!

@jafant Love the DP-430.  It's renewed my interest in CD playback tremendously.  Originally it was going to used for DAC duties temporarily, but it sounds as good as any standalone DAC I've used under $3k.  Killed two birds.
@kmurp Both Accuphase components were bought on the used market.  Took a lot of patience and persistence to finally find them.  I pounced on both as soon as they were listed.
