    • My design 6sn7 tube preamp Self designed with help from two industry design giants!
Dual mono design with beefy CLCLC power supply filtering using Mundorf HV+ 4 pole caps, Vcap copper foil caps, Vcap Odam caps, Sonic Craft Gen 1 caps, and Renco Toroid chokes. Separate power tranny for B+ and 6.3v tube filaments. Tent Labs heater supplies.  Neotech 14 gauge solid core copper in Teflon used in power supply as well as Duelund Polycast 600v wire.

The 6sn7 circuit comes from Paul Weitzel of Tube Research Labs. Paul passed away several years ago and is greatly missed. I used only the very best parts in this circuit including Duelund stranded copper wire, Duelund Cu Sn output capacitors, Audio Note Non-magnetic Tantalum, Shinkoh and Mills MRA resistors. Khozmo 64 step attenuator with remote.

The unit is also SS voltage regulated with both right and left channel regulators in keeping with the dual mono design. The regulators were both designed and built by Ralph of Atmasphere specifically for my needs and unique build.  Ralph is a wonderful man and has always been willing to help me with any design and build questions.

The unit is point to point wired with the exception of the Tent Labs heater supplies and Ralph’s voltage regulators. The circuit boards on the 6sn7 tube stands simply hold the parts in place with point to point wiring under the boards.

The tube stands and complete power supply are built on vibration isolated sub chassis boards with special footers placed under each sub chassis.

The wood chassis was build by a craftsman, I say artist, in Canada. It is a work of art and very high quality. All connectors are top of the line from Furutech and KLE Innovations.

IsoAcoustics Gaia 1 footers are attached to the chassis bottom. Perfect Path Audio E-Cards and + mats have also been added.

I have owned many an outstanding preamp and can confidently say this preamp is my favorite sonically.  It sounds stunningly beautiful and so right top to bottom.

    • Innuos Zenith 3 server/streamer
With Perfect Path Technology E-cards, pastes and mats added.
    • Mojo Audio Evo DAC - NOS - Many upgrades
I purchased the unit as a Mystique 3 and upgraded it myself to Evo type status.  I installed Lundahl Amorphous Core Analog section chokes as well as Lundahl chokes in the digital section.

In addition, I installed the new upgraded USB board and Staccato Op-Amps. My unit also has the Vishay ZFoil resistors. Soundcoat chassis vibration control. WA Quantum Chips and Perfect Path Audio E-Mats +.

Copper and Stillpoints ERS shielding added.
    • Clayton Audio - substantially upgraded S50
Pure Class A amplifier. I upgraded this with a larger transformer that is more quiet in terms of hum caused by trace amounts DC on my AC line. I also upgraded the large can power supply caps as well as the smaller electrolytic caps on the power supply board. I added Audience Auricaps XO in bypass positions on the large 120,000 uf power supply caps.  Upgraded from Orange Drop caps to Clarity CSA and Audience XO caps.

Chassis dampening material added. I also replaced all caps on the output circuit board to high temp 125c Nichicons.  Internal wiring upgraded to 12 and 14 gauge Neotech solid core in Teflon copper wire. I bypassed the binding posts by running the right and left channel output wires outside the chassis and wrapped them  around the binding posts.  The binding posts are now acting solely as a clamp tightening the output wires of the amp to my speaker cable spades.  Direct hook up for best sound.  This always sounds better than connectors no matter how good they are.

KLEI RCA input connectors added as well as a top of the line Furutech IEC. Lastly, I upgraded the bridge rectifiers to nice fast recovery high end types. This amp sounds so wonderful.
    • Dali Epicon 6 - heavily modified
I upgraded the crossover with Path Audio resistors, Jupiter capacitors, Perfect Path Audio paste throughout the crossovers and on all internal speaker connections, Perfect Path Audio E-cards on the drivers and inside the crossover compartments.  Footers are IsoAcoustics Gaia 2.
    • DIY USB cable Double Helix design
See my comments on the ICs.  Made with the same conductors. Sounds darn good really.
    • Acoustic BBQ Double Smoked speaker cables
Made with double runs of 10 gauge Western Electric tinned copper wire in cotton.
    • DIY Double Helix RCA ICs Double Helix
2 VH Audio 18 gauge Air Lock solid core copper conductors and 2 Take Five Audio silver coated stranded copper 16 gauge conductors for the negative. Just sublime! KLEI Absolute Harmony RCA plugs.
    • SOTM Ethernet cables SOtM dCBL-CAT7
I use several of these in my system. Best ethernet cable I have tried and yes ethernet cables matter!
    • Puritan Audio Labs 156
Best conditioner I have auditioned in my system. Easy best buy in this crowded field of choices.
    • Sound Anchors Custom 4 shelf rack
    Very heavy and well made.
    • Zero Zone Linear power supply heavily modified
Powers my modem. In digital everything matters.
    • Direct 20 amp lines AC power to system
    • Various footers Eden Sound Terra Stone bearing, ISO Acoustics, Daedalus Audio DiD
    • Uptone Audio EtherRegen
    Nice addition!
    • Various tweaks Perfect Path Audio Ecards, E Mats, Paste Outlet plugs, RCA plugs, Mad Scientist Audio donuts, disks, tubes
    • English Electric 8Switch
Great increase in sound quality with the addition of this ethernet switch/clock.
    • SABLON Audio Ethernet cable
    Wonderful sounding ethernet cables!
    • Network Acoustics ENO ethernet filter
Single best sounding upgrade I have heard for a streaming front end.  Just amazing.
    • Network Acoustics Silver ethernet cabl

Very Nice system. I see you have the Perfect Path cards, etc and lots of other tweaks. I have them and was quite amazed at the difference. I see you have tweaked most things too. I don't have the tech skills to build amp, preamps, etc but I have tweaked a  bit, especially with footers. My wife couldn't believe the difference she heard with just the switching of the material of the bearings I use with my DIY roller blocks.
BTW I think you are down the road in TN from me. I'm in Kingsport.

Wow.  That is both interesting and awesome! I ride about 150-200 miles weekly weather permitting here in TN. Weather in not permitting this week with two very rare ice/snow storms :(

Peloton is all I can do this week.

@grannyring , I've admired your system and handmade exploits for a long time.  I think you have the highest ratio of Dig Under the Hood to Spousal Acceptance Factor I've ever seen.  As in: I don't think I've ever seen a DIY-head with such an aesthetically-pleasing room.  Amazing work on both fronts.  Chapeau!

As for the name, are you into vintage jewelry or uphill cycling?  ;-)

Just added the Puritan Audio 156 power conditioner.  Wonderful unit that brings more of that live sound .....  improved realism! Very happy with the unit. Also upgraded my Clayton Audio S50 amp and it now sounds even better! System is really sounding so beautiful.

Finally added the Uptone EtherRegen improving my front end sound nicely.

I found this to be true after upgrading the dac’s USB board, power supply, opamps  etc...

Just saw this.   Sorry for my late post.  Seems my Mojo Evo dac sounds just about as good without the Ideon reclocker.   Just not a big enough difference with this particular dac and my tastes.

Hi, I noticed you had the Ideon Master of Time and have sold it. Did you find something better? I am considering that or the Innous Phoenix. Currently I use an Isoregen that has an LPS feeding a WEISS 204 (Spdif converter) into BNC. This may be doing a similar reclock/LPS job as the Ideon or Phoenix I guess.

You are one of the very few people who have experienced the Ideon. Would welcome your view and perhaps what led you to sell/replace it? Thx Andre

Upgrading the Mojo is an absolute “no way would I ever do that again” project.  Very, very difficult.  Ben will tell you that as well. The unit was not built with upgrades in mind. The build construction makes it a near Herculean effort.

I did consider the Phoenix, but read and heard comments that the Ideon was a better unit. This coming from folks who tested both.  Both are very good however and you can’t go wrong with either.

Hi, I too have the mojo v3 and innuOS server (Mini with mojo Illuminati power supply).
I’m Looking at reclockers. Did you consider or try the InnuOS Phoenix before the Ideon?
How difficult was it to upgrade the USB in the Mojo?
Thanks

@mitch2 , Thank you so much for your kind comments! Yes you are so right about folks like Paul and Ralph.

The upgrade I did to the Mojo dac turned out wonderfully.  The dac jumped up in performance some 30% plus! Ben at Mojo Audio was also very helpful.  He knows his digital! I love his passion.

Hi Bill, wonderful job on the preamp!  Curious which resistors you went with in the Khozmo volume control?  Also impressed with the Lundahl transformer chokes in the Mojo.  Glad to see you are still liking the Clayton.  Your system has been inspired by some of the finer people in this hobby, Ralph, Wilson, Ben, and Paul (RIP).  SA is an institution too. I have their stands under speakers and amps and although I am not using my SA rack presently, I cannot bring myself to sell it.  Kudos on a very nice system!
