    John Poulin and crew aimed with the P-5 to design a preamp that would have the shortest possible signal path (9.5" according to SimAudio) with the fewest possible signal-path obstacles. In this regard, they chose to eliminate all carbon-based parts (resistors, pots, etc.) in a zero-feedback design. The volume control is especially noteworthy. It’s an RBG gain device that uses resistors that are selected by a microprocessor-controlled relay network. SimAudio places it at a point in the signal path where, they say, no colorations will be introduced.

    Two-way, reflex-loaded, magnetically shielded, stand-mounted loudspeaker. Drive-units: 1" (25mm) metal-dome tweeter, two 7" plastic-cone woofers. Crossover frequency: 4kHz. Frequency response: 29Hz-20kHz ±3dB. Sensitivity: 85dB/W/m (2.83V). Nominal impedance: 4 ohms. Maximum sound pressure level: 110dB before dynamic compression. Amplifier requirements: 40-200W (4 ohms).
    • Exact Power Systems EP-15a
    The ExactPower 15A actively removes high frequency irregularities from the waveform; it does not filter them. The work is accomplished by a high efficiency, pulse width modulated power amplifier. Instantaneous correction and wide bandwidth automatically improve the THD of the waveform. Current is stored, supplying bursts when needed. Output impedance is significantly lower than the impedance of the power delivered by the wall receptacle, allowing equipment to function more efficiently. Furthermore... it can easily power amplifiers that tax even the largest, heaviest, and most costly Power Plant beyond capacity.
