The Doshi V3.0 is the amp that lured me out of a decade of SET amps. Most of my SET decade was spent with an Audio Note Jinro.
The Doshi 3.0 amps with KT150 tubes are very special, IMO. While looking for speakers and electronics for my new larger listening room, I listened to these amps with Wilson, Magico, Quads 2912, Harbeth 40.2. Each speaker sounded very different from one another. The Doshi amps did their job showcasing each speakers character.
The Magico and Doshi combo was linear from top to bottom, with super tight bass. I did not think a tube amp was capable of such tight linear bass.
The Wilson Alexx and Doshi combo, is exceptional, the bass is clean, extended and very natural. The midrange is textural and the highs are wonderful. This combo is super dynamic as well and portrays scale like few other speakers. The Alexx/Doshi combo is the most balanced speaker combination I have ever heard from top to bottom, it is darn near perfect. It checks all the audiophile boxes. However, I was not shopping for speakers at the Alexx's price point. But that combo sealed the deal for me, related to Doshi Electronics.
The Doshi amps with the Harbeth 40.2 is also exceptional. It does not check every box like the Alexx/Doshi, but this combo connects with my heart. I have a really natural midrange, male and female vocals are to die for. My treble performance is sweet yet extended. My bass performance is not perfect and is where the 40.2 strays from neutral. My bass is a touch fat compared to the Magico and the Wilson speakers.
I am not trying to review speakers, I am trying convey that the Doshi 3.0 amp is capable of warmth, neutrality, dynamics, scale, control, energy and nuance - just pure music. The Doshi 3.0 is a “straight wire with gain”. They are as good as it gets to my ears!!!!
