Novemeber 2016-Added 4 x LAMM m2.2 for biamping the TADS, driven by the LAMM LL1.1 preamp.A match made in heaven!( or in Brooklyn NY......) The LAMM amps will be set on 4 SRA ocxl+2 amp stands. The LL1.1 power supply will be set on HRS m3xs. October 2016-the pas lab gear proved to be completely unreliable and after 7 months of use,one of the xs amps died! good riddence!
October 2015-update-- after 4 years of enjoyable listening sessions with my focal stella em, i replaced them with the TAD REF1s.The ref1s bring more of the focal's strengths to the forefront ,and then some.
Also upgraded the siltech double cown i/cs to the newly developed TRIPLE CROWNS- a significant upgrade on its own.
Replaced my Lamm gear with the soulution 701s, and 725 preamp.
such room care and electronics deployment deserve a lot of respect, I'm really impressed, furthermore your TAD R1's is one of my preferred loudspeakers ever, I can only image what level of satisfaction to listen to your system.
Apologies for replying so late. First ,thank you kindly. I have enjoyed this system immensely. The combination of a custom built room , great acoustics ,dedicated power , combined with truly state of the art speakers( not just skin deep pretty finish ),and the magic of Lamm yields really a revelatory experience.thank you again, and happy new year.
Just wondered if you had ever tried a 10MHz clock in your Vivaldi system -- I just added one to mine and the benefit is pretty considerable despite relatively modest cost (at least in the context of DCS)
The best bass i had in my room over the years was from the rockport hyperions. omg- it would peel the paint off. the worst bass ( or for that matter ,the overall worst speaker i ever had) was from the tidal sunray. the focals stellas were imactful but rolled off some, yet detailed and tunefull. the TADS , to my ears are the best of all worlds.
Yes they are....13 months later they are continuing to show me new things! I miss the deep sub-bass bottom end of my Legacy AERIS as these seem to roll-off in room below 23Hz or so (have yet to measure with REW but will soon) but the bass they do put out is tuneful, accurate, super-fast and resounding!
Jim, my all tubes system, vac and bat before that were great sounding systems. tubes, without a question in my my mind, humanize the sound. but.... too much of a good thing is just too much. i also arrived at the conclusion that a well designed tube preamp is far more critical in "humanzinig " the sound then a tube amplifier.to my ears ,the lamm ll1.1 is at the pinnacle. the hybrid design manages to create a great deal of current to drive not- so- easy -loads speakers, but having a tube in the signal path lends ,again ,to a more human sound ,not brittle or etched.
