This is my vinyl ripping studio. The speakers are in an "aktiv" configuration. There are crossover cards in the amps and the internal crossovers in the speakers have been bypassed. The sound is lush, clear and open. The preamp even sounds better after the change.
I found that the LK 140 has a pair of output devices per channel. A lot of people say that the LK 140 sounds better than the LK 85. It is just from them having more power and slam? Does the LK140 show more micro dynamics?
No question, the LK85 is a wonderful amplifier (I own one myself) and perfect with the Tukans. I have it paired with the original LK1 preamp (bought new in '88). I also have an LK140 / Kolecktor pairing. Love it too.
I bought into the Linn For Life promise back in the early 80's.
