My system has now reached a level of performance I only ever dreamt of. I’m am blown away by the addition of the Kronos Pro. The Zellaton Concert speakers are truly remarkable. The Silent Source power conditioner, power cords and cables provide a remarkable foundation that allows me to fairly evaluate each and every change I make to the system. The detail, depth, dimension and “feel” of my system is truly exceptional. I'd like to take credit but all I really did is listen to a couple mentors. Mike Lavigne helped to open my eyes to what is possible and has been a valuable resource for information. In addition to building my cables, power cords and conditioner, and turntable stand, Frank Dickens has been trusted friend. He has taught me more about our hobby than anyone. Frank has gotten me off of the treadmill of getting my advice from the magazines and salespeople. I now have a system that punches way above its "weight class". I am very grateful to both for helping me continue to build my dream system.
I don't know why I bother putting this in the "Done For Now" category? The last wave of changes has resulted in taking this system to a whole different level- dare I say bordering on "All Out Assault" quality?
Frank Dickens of Silent Source Cables has continued to mentor me on my quest and has yet to lead me astray. Frank built the phone rack for me complete with proprietary feet on the legs and between layers for the turntable. Moving the table from in between the speakers and providing a more stable footing has been nothing short of breath taking. Also, adding one of Frank's platforms- again with his proprietary feet- for my amplifier has also contributed to the overall betterment of sound.
Earlier this year I added the ZYX UNIverse Premium cartridge to replace my Lyra Kleos. Out of the box it was a big step, but now that it is broken in I am, again, blown away.
I also changed out my Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One 5.0 for Frank's Silent Source Power Source. Between it, and going completely with his power cords we have built a foundation that is quiet, powerful and yet incredibly nuanced.
I am remarkably blessed to have the support and friendship of a couple great mentors that have helped me build a system that performs beyond my wildest expections. Coming soon: new music server for high res digital.
Thanks, Jon! As some of my components break in I have become even more pleased with my system. I just upgraded my phono cartridge this past weekend to a ZYX Universe Premium and, out of the box, it has taken the sound to another level. I'm in the process of moving my anolog to a better rack and bringing in a music server. I'll update here in the near future.
Nice System and agree with you on the Reference 3 Phono Preamp - helped me to fall in love with vinyl again. I had a quasi similar setup with having the GS150 Amp before upgrading to their Reference 250SE Mono blocks and ARC's Ref 6 Preamp, Ref. 3 Phono Preamp and Ref CD9 before upgrading to dCS' Rossini Player w/clock. The ARC gear are awesome and so musical. Congrats on assembling an impressive system.
I own the Zellaton Emotions and I agree, it is too bad more people does not hear any of the Zellatons in their listening room. These will definitely be the last speakers you will ever own.
Some people believe you need megabuck electronics to drive them, but I have not found that to be the case. The Job amp and pre is a great choice, I am currently using the Digital Audio Marachinos and getting a wonderful sound. This is the best I have ever had in the last 45 years.
The SQ is so smooth and natural sounding while the speakers totally disappear with a huge soundstage.
